SMS Notifications — Opt-In & Consent
Express consent (summary). Sustento Software sends transactional text messages about work orders and maintenance activity only to authenticated users who (1) voluntarily provide their mobile phone number and (2) turn on SMS for specific notification events. SMS preferences are off by default. Providing a phone number alone does not enroll you in SMS. Message frequency varies with work activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchasing or using Sustento.
What messages we send
Transactional only. Sustento SMS Alerts notify signed-in maintenance team members about work related to their Sustento account. Examples include work order assigned, status changed, comment added, overdue work, and preventive maintenance reminders. We do not send marketing, advertising, or promotional text messages.
Sample messages:
Sustento: WO WO-0001 assigned to you - Replace air filter. Due: 20 Aug 2026. Reply STOP to opt out.Sustento: WO WO-0042 is OVERDUE - HVAC inspection. Please update status. Reply STOP to opt out.
How express opt-in works
Consent is collected inside the Sustento web application at www.sustentocmms.com after the user signs in with credentials issued by their employer (the Sustento customer). Opt-in is voluntary, informed, and requires intentional action.
- Open My Profile → Profile and enter a mobile number in the Phone (SMS) field, then save. Numbers must use an allowed country code (United States and Canada: +1).
- Open My Profile → Notifications.
- Turn on the SMS toggle for each event type you want to receive (for example, Work order assigned to me). Email toggles are separate; enabling email does not enable SMS. SMS toggles are unchecked / off until you turn them on.
By saving your mobile number and enabling one or more SMS toggles, you expressly consent to receive recurring transactional SMS messages from Sustento Software for those events, until you opt out.
Opt-in workflow (visual)
1. Profile — phone number
Optional. Used only for SMS alerts you enable. Message and data rates may apply.
2. Notifications — SMS off by default
User must flip each SMS control on. No pre-checked boxes.
Message frequency
Frequency depends on work order and maintenance activity. Active field staff typically receive a few messages per week; supervisors who enable assignment alerts may receive fewer. There is no fixed daily quota — volume follows the events the user enabled.
How to opt out
- Reply STOP to any Sustento SMS message to cancel further texts.
- Reply HELP for help information.
- Turn off SMS toggles under My Profile → Notifications, or remove your mobile number on the Profile tab.
- Ask your organization administrator to deactivate your account.
Pricing disclosure
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Sustento does not charge a separate fee for SMS alerts beyond your Sustento subscription.
